Mozilla released Firefox® 3 last Wednesday, June 17, 2008, “a major update to its popular and acclaimed free, open source Web browser. Firefox 3 is the culmination of three years of efforts from thousands of developers, security experts, localization and support communities, and testers from around the globe.”
Available in approximately 50 languages, Firefox 3 is two to three times faster than its predecessor and offers more than 15,000 useful improvements and features (unlike its uselessly bloated competitor), including the revolutionary smart location bar, malware protection, antivirus software, parental controls, password manager, and popup blocker.
I’m officially a part of the first 11 million downloaders of the new release (click on left image). Watch for Mozilla’s press release on its attempt to to set a Guinness World Record for the most downloads in twenty-four hours.

But almost all tech reviewers, such as Cnet.com and PC World, rate Firefox as the better browser. It has a lot of useful features such as tabbed browsing, spell checker, popup blocker, session restore, text resizing, and a host of others.

Isn’t it maddening to be clicking the BackButton button so many times – and reloading pages – just to get to a previous Web page? How about the mess of all those open IE windows? Try Firefox’s tabbed browsing, and you can have 10 or 20 or more pages open at the same time in just one window, instantly accessible with a single click! And even if there’s a power outage, all those Web pages are easily restored the next time you open Firefox.

Pesky spam and virus problems? It’s because of IE, which those nasty nerds out there target with unflagging zeal (who can stand Bill Gates’ gazillion gold bars?), while leaving Firefox alone.
