Oliver’s car accident while on duty

oligradWhile responding to a call, the patrol car of our son Oliver was broadsided by a car beating a red light in LA at about 2:30 am last Saturday. He sustained two fractures in his upper right arm. His partner, who was driving, had only minor injuries. We’re thankful that that was his only injury, and no surgery was needed. He was released from the hospital after an overnight stay. We spoke to him yesterday and he would be fine, by God’s grace.

We’re also thankful that Lem drove down from San Jose for no other reason except to visit them and other friends in LA, so he was there right before all these events happened. As well, Oliver has a lot of support from the many friends he has made at the LAPD.

Oliver will be on Injured on Duty for about 4 months, but LAPD has great medical and on-leave benefits, and we’re thankful for that too. Even the mayor of LA and the chief of police paid him a visit at the hospital.

Please pray for him as he’s on pain medications which keep him drowsy for the most part. Also for his wife Nem as she cares for a sort of disabled husband (imagine how complicated and time-consuming “simple” things such as changing shirts and baths would be!).
