I find the write-up on Siege of Baler in the Aurora site very helpful. Seems like the media of yersteryears and the liberal media of today do not differ very much. The news story is dependent not on the truth but on the country and company publishing or broadcasting, as well as the reporter, broadcaster or the writer. Very selective and image oriented. We can say, as an "alien" will say, "these humans." Hope to see the movie too, maybe in a year or two.

Addendum: I wish Filipino movies will do away with altering the historical story just to insert and accommodate the fictional characters tailored to the movie stars whose movie careers are still being promoted, sacrificing the authenticity and historicity of the movie's story.

Fifteen days holiday in the Philippines is no match with the 69 days in Cambodia when I first arrived in 1993. They still have the same number of holidays but only for Cambodians. Foreign companies and workers are not covered with Buddhist related holidays.

I agree with you that we should celebrate victories rather than defeats. Small wonder Filipinos are often in the losing side and are on the survival mode.

I think April 9, is referred to as "Araw ng Kagitingan" ("Day of Valor") to celebrate the bravery of the Katipuneros. Or did they changed it to Bataan Day? The administration is good in changing, switching and scrambling the holidays. I don't get it.

Yey! What a research Nollie. If only the Philippine gov't officials will stop their bickering, fault-finding, and wealth ventures, they will have enough time to spend on researching and studying the true historical heritage of the Filipinos. Then reforms will come to the country which is called "pearl of the orient."

On another note, where did you find that photo of Rizal's execution at Bagumbayan (Luneta). I wish I could enhanced it several times, then maybe, just maybe, I will be able to see my grandmother among the people and my grandfather among the Spanish guards. This was when and where they met each other for the first time.
