Just a short observation on the just-concluded Philippine midterm election. I wanted to see which Quick Count is counting the fastest in the senatorial election, since there are three major ones sponsored by the media.
Fifteen hours after the polls closed, the National Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL) Quick Count has finished canvassing 0.2 percent of the votes. At this rate, it will take 7,200 hours to finish counting. That’s 300 days.
After 25.5 hours of canvassing, STI/ABS-CBN Quick Count had finished 4.9 percent of the votes. This means their mission will be over in less than 22 days! And the winner is….
Not so fast. I still have to look into the Inquirer.net/AMA Quick Count: after 23 hours, it has counted about 4.9% of the votes.
So the winner is…. AMA Quick Count! Hooray! Hooray! In 20 days, the people will know which newscasters, basketball players, movie stars, rebels, turncoats, gambling lords, drug lords, kidnapping lords, or their relatives, will be able to pad their votes enough to be included in the Infamous Twelve of 2007!
